How to Install Solar Panels

The list below is an overview of how to install solar panels. However, we recommend you hire professionals to install your system.

Step by Step- How to Install Solar Panels

  1. Research rebates and tax credits in your area
  2. Decide if you'll need a grid-tie or off grid solar system
  3. Decide if you'll need a string inverter or microinverter
  4. Choose the panels, mounting system and inverter you'd like to use
  5. Apply for financing if necessary
  6. Make sure you get an electrician involved (there is a good amount of electrical work to be done)
  7. Obtain building and electrical permits for your system
  8. Install your system and sign a Net Meter Agreement
  9. Have system inspected by a certified professional- ideally a NABCEP certified solar installer
  10. If you have a grid-tied system, your utility company will need to inspect it before you turn it on

If this sounds like a lot of work, it is! Just give us a call and we can simplify the process for you.
